In Italia la pubblicazione è iniziata a Gennaio 2008 da parte della Star Comics . Fairy Tail è un manga di tipo avventura/fantasy; i giovani protagonisti di questa storia sono Natsu e Lucy i quali, a volte, sono accompagnati da altri membri della Gilda denominata Fairy Tail. Tutto inizia con Lucy, una giovane maga con un grande sogno nel cassetto: entrare nella famosa Gilda Fairy Tail. Un giorno, incontra casualmente Natsu, un giovane ragazzo, che si scopre essere alla ricerca di Igneel la Salamandra. Data la condizione del ragazzo, Lucy decide di offrirgli il pranzo, e così Natsu le spiega che la persona che sta cercando, Igneel, è in realtà un drago. Finito il pranzo, ed entrata nella piazza della città, Lucy viene sedotta con un trucco da un uomo chiamato Bora, che si spacciava in giro come il membro Salamander di Fairy Tail, il quale si scopre poi essere un commerciante di giovani ragazze, che rapisce la giovane maga. Fortunatamente la ragazza viene salvata da Natsu, che si rivela essere il vero Salamander di Fairy Tail. È proprio grazie a lui che Lucy riceve una strepitosa offerta: diventare membro della gilda Fairy Tail. È così che inizia l'avventura di Natsu e Lucy, che da qui in avanti formeranno un giovane, ma ottimo gruppo di Fairy Tail, sempre pronti ad accettare le missioni che arrivano nella gilda. La storia si colloca fra la morte della maestra di Gray, Ur, e l'ingresso nella gilda. Fairy Tail Ice Trail Capitoli Fairy Tail Ice Trail Volume 1 Fairy Tail Ice Trail Volume 2 Fairy Tail Zero Trama: Spoiler Instancabile Hiro Mashima, mentre prosegue la pubblicazione dell'opera principale e di maggior successo, Fairy Tail, porta questo spinoff che racconta la nascita della gilda di maghi più famosa. La storia non viene narrata da un punto di vista qualunque: infatti la protagonista è il primo master, Mavis Vermillion.
