Inizia poco dopo la scomparsa della fortezza Macross e dell'unità speciale Londo Bell. Come protagonista vede Tetsuya Tsurugi, che pilotando il Grande Mazinga, deve difendere una delle basi della SDF contro le forze di Micene. In questo manga appaiono anche altri personaggi di serie robotiche, che chi ha occhio e li conosce, magari si ricorderà chi sono.
