Durante un autunno il protagonista incontra Kuroyukihime, la ragazza più bella della scuola, che gli cambia la vita grazie ad un misterioso software. Haruyuki viene a conoscenza dell'esistenza di un mondo virtuale denominato "Accel World", lì egli diventa "Burst Linker," un particolare paladino che protegge la principessa.
